Frequently asked questions
Which writers have influenced your work the most?
Toni Morrison is my favorite writer, but Octavia Butler’s Wild Seed and Frank Herbert’s Dune shaped the kinds of themes I explore. George Lucas’s Star Wars also inspired my storytelling.
Which of your books is your favorite?
I love them all for different reasons. Usually, my favorite is whichever book I’m currently writing.
Are your books appropriate for young readers?
It depends on the book. Here’s my recommended age guide:
Order of the Seers (16+) -> some language and sexual content
The Wolf Queen Duology (10+) -> if they can handle Harry Potter, they can handle this
In the Garden of Light and Shadow Duology (14+) -> some sexual content, no strong language
Between Two Seas (10+) -> best for mature middle-grade readers ready for complex themes
To Find You (16+) -> some sexual content
Ellis & The Magic Mirror (ages 6-9) -> early reader fantasy adventure
Enchanted: 5 Tales of Magic in the Everyday (ages 3+) -> perfect for younger children
What genres do you write in?
I write across genres; wherever the story takes me. My books include:
Science Fiction: Order of the Seers
Fantasy: The Wolf Queen
Steampunk: In the Garden of Light and Shadow
Historical Romance: To Find You
Short Stories: Between Two Seas
Children’s Fantasy: Enchanted, Ellis & The Magic Mirror
How do you come up with your stories?
I dream them. Every story starts in my sleep and surprises me when I wake.
Which book should I read if I don’t have much time?
Start with Between Two Seas. It’s four short stories in four genres, from a murderous fairy fantasy to a sci-fi western.
Are your books available in ebook format?
Yes, all except Enchanted.
Are your books available in audiobook?
Some are on Audible now, and more are coming.
How romantic are your love scenes?
I don’t believe in “closed-door” romance. My scenes aren’t graphic, but they are passionate and show real love in all its dimensions.
How can I get started as a writer?
Check out my Tips for Authors Page

How do you find time to write?
You don’t find time. You make it.
Do you offer coaching for aspiring writers?
Not right now, but I’m releasing a workbook soon to help writers finish their first novel. Coaching may follow.
